Where to buy potato waffles and how much do they cost
Luckily for potato waffle lovers, they’re budget friendly.
Own-brand waffles are cheaper than branded (shock), and you can pick up 10 waffles for £1.75 at Iceland or 10 for £1.59 at Aldi. At the moment in Asda, you could use their Mix & Match four for £4.98 to buy 40 potato waffles for less than a fiver.
Those with gluten intolerances are in good hands with Birds Eye potato waffles. Most are gluten-free, just double check the specific box you want to buy before adding it to your basket.
Method
Step 1
Place your potato waffles in your air fryer, but don’t stack them. The large container of the Ninja Crispi (with the crisper plate inside) fits four waffles.
Step 2
Set your air fryer to Air Fry, leaving the temperature on the default 200C. Set the timer to 10 minutes. You can preheat the air fryer for a minute before adding your waffles, but it isn’t a requirement.
Step 3
At the halfway mark, flip. On the Crispi, similar to some other air fryers, once you replace the lid, you’ll need to press ‘Start’.
Step 4
If you prefer your waffles to have more of a dark golden crisp, you can put the Crispi lid back on for an extra minute or two. But otherwise, your potato waffles will be fluffy and crispy enough to serve up.
What’s the best way to cook potato waffles?
The air fryer took 10 minutes to cook potato waffles from frozen, which is far quicker than using the oven (which you’ll also need to preheat). If you’ve already got the oven on to cook the rest of your dinner, then chuck your waffles in. If you don’t fancy waffles, you can always stick some mozzarella sticks or crumpets in your air fryer instead.
If your oven isn’t on, we find the best way to cook potato waffles is in the toaster. It’s quick, easy, and you can cook up to four at a time. While we managed to fit four potato waffles in the large Ninja Crispi container, you might find yourself limited to cooking two at a time if you’ve got a single drawer or a small air fryer.
