If you’re feeling bougie, received one in a Too Good To Go bag, or found it on your yellow sticker hunt (hello), you might notice there’s no instructions for cooking the M&S Gastropub cottage pie in an air fryer.

At Simple & Homely, we did the experimenting for you and found the perfect cooking time and mode to get your M&S cottage pie piping hot and perfectly crispy.

We trialled cooking this twice: the first time for 20 minutes on Roast, the second, for 15 minutes on Air Fry. Of the two, we found our Ninja Crispi worked best on the Air Fry setting with the cottage pie on the crisper plate.

The oven instructions are as follows:

  1. Remove plastic film
  2. Cook for 35 minutes at 200C
  3. Eat

Steps

  1. Remove plastic film
  2. Place on crisper plate in the large Ninja Crispi and attach the Crisper lid
  3. Select Air Fry mode (200C) and increase the time to 15 minutes. Don’t flip it halfway through
  4. Remove at beep
  5. Eat

From frozen, you’ll need to increase the time to 20-25 minutes. Ensure the cottage pie is piping hot throughout before serving.

For other styles of air fryers, these timings may differ. However, regardless of dual or single drawer, FlexDrawer, or multicooker, if you select Air Fry, set the temperature to 200C and the time to 15 minutes, you won’t be too far off.

Serve on its own, with gravy, or whatever leftover vegetables you have in the fridge.
