Waitrose Butchers BBQ box and Fish box on a light green background

Are you “Ready to Grill”? Waitrose thinks you should be

1–2 minutes

Nothing says “It’s summer!” like a BBQ, and Waitrose are taking full advantage of that feeling with the launch of their Butchers’ Box ready to grill range.

The range contains two meal options: a BBQ box and a Fish box, each costing £20 and £23 respectively.

But what do each actually contain? Looking at it, the BBQ box will realistically serve two people: two burgers, four sausages, two kashmiri chilli lamb kebabs and a lovely sprig of rosemary. The Fish box comes with a lot of omega-3: two whole seabass, two prawn kebabs, two salmon fillets, lemon wedges and a choice of two butters, parsley, lemon and dill and parsley and garlic.

This new range has been developed purely because of what people are searching for on Waitrose.com, with Sophie Simmons, buyer at Waitrose, reports “searches for barbeque fish recipes on Waitrose.com soaring over 210% this past year.” “BBQ meat” and “BBQ fish” searches are both up 172% and 273%, respectively, so it’s no surprise Waitrose is taking advantage of the renowned popularity.

Sophie Simmons, buyer at Waitrose, said: “We’re observing an interesting shift when it comes to our customers throwing a barbecue. It’s no longer just about standard burgers and sausages; hosts want to create a memorable, restaurant-quality experience rooted in trusted quality and sourcing.

“We’ve created the new Butchers’ BBQ Box and Fish BBQ Box to meet this maximalist demand, bringing together counter-cut quality, great value, and everything food lovers need to make summer hosting feel elevated yet effortless.”

Yes, you could always just buy individual bits that suit your fancy, but sometimes choosing specific items from variety-filled shelves can be overwhelming – the boxes are designed to simplify that decision.
