Jaffa Cakes get in the summer spirit with new mango flavour

1–2 minutes

While the weather on the 20th April looks to be grey and a bit chilly, McVitie’s new mango flavour Jaffa Cakes try their best to bring the summer vibes.

In the place of the traditional orange-flavour jelly, the new flavour will have a layer of “juicy, sweet mango-flavoured jelly” between the dark chocolate top and sponge bottom.

(And yes, I do believe the top of a Jaffa Cake is the chocolate side. You don’t want to rest the side that can potentially melt on the arm of your sofa. If you disagree, feel free to drop me an email explaining why and I’ll happily respond telling you you’re wrong.)

On the new flavour launch, Russell Smith, the Marketing Manager at Jaffa Cakes, says: “Jaffa Cakes Mango flavour is our way of keeping things fun, staying ahead of the flavour curve, and giving everyone a little taste of the tropics this summer, no passport required.”

For that “little taste of the tropics” you’ll have to wait until Monday the 20th of April. The mango Jaffas will be down the biscuit aisle (it’s a cake!) at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Coop, Poundland, B&M and most other major supermarkets. A box of 10 will cost you £1.50. They’ll be joining the Originals, the Hot Honey and the Yuzu Lemon flavours on the shelves.

For our diabetic readers, I’ll come back and update this article when I know the sugar-content of each cake. A single Original orange Jaffa Cake contains 5.4g of sugar, and I’ll expect the mango variety to be quite similar.
